Blue-side/Left is Ver. 2 – Red side/Right is Ver. 1, the original circuit.
Version 2 changes: A little extra low end voicing with a little more saturation to all three positions.
Version 1 & 2 offer variations of gain from light to medium overdrive, with position two going from overdrive to a nice thick saturated fuzz tone. Producing rich harmonics and everything from throaty overdrive to fuzz-like saturation is only part of what it can do.
This pedal offers warm, creamy, clear notes with a natural full-range tone in all three positions, while still maintaining that tube-amp sound capable of navigating all genres of recorded guitar tones—from the ’60s to the present day. It can also help tighten a distorted amp’s sag, making higher gain more manageable while maintaining low noise to gain levels.
All knobs are “very” active, small adjustments will affect your tone. The bass and treble controls go well beyond standard function, they do far more than their label.
In short, the simplest way to describe the Triptych V2 sound would be 40% RAT, 40% Bluesbreaker & 20% Dumble in one pedal, with position 2 able to get close to a Tone Bender at max.
(Pos-1) Boost, mild overdrive that goes half way to medium, will do a “little” modern too thick vintage tone that can also get compressed, depending on the settings – bass knob.
(Pos-2) Boost, overdrive, as the Saturation & Bass knobs are turned clockwise the fuzz edge increases, maxed will get close to the Tone Bender MKII pro tone.
(Pos-3) Boost to thick OD that now goes to almost medium gain and can still get a little fuzz like.
V 1, will get the psychedelic smooth gated almost spitty, sputtery fuzz like tone.
Position 3, one of the strong points of this pedal is stacking, when placed (1st) in line.
This is “not” a jack of all trades, master of none pedal, each position has an array of great tone!
Note: “If” you do not like fuzz, run it at 18v, it then becomes a variation of OD & distortion depending on the switch position.

I’ve had the Triptych for about 2 yrs and the Triptych Twins a little more than a year. I love these pedals. Everything from warm clean to drive to distortion to thick fuzz…sounds amazing. Originally I thought the Twins would kick the Triptych off my board but they both stayed and they stack well with everything. So when I heard about the Vintage Green I knew I had to try it and now has become my most favorite TS type pedal to date! Even if you’re not a TS fan, I suggest trying this one out. It does the TS thing, and with the additional fourth knob it can mellow out the mid hump a bit, offering much more in tone.

I have two “Twins” pedals in addition to the standard Triptych model.
I can’t add much to the review above, but of all the many, many, many boost/overdrive pedals I’ve owned/tried, these are easily the best. It really does meld into your amplifier’s base tone as noted above and is so organic and musical no harsh, artificial tonal artifacts at all.

I try not to be over the top with my reviews, but the Triptych Twins is knocking other pedals off my board left and right, so I have to give credit where it’s due. It’s really so usable across the gain dial. It’s not just me, my buddy is in a popular local Orange County band, and I ended up gifting him one. It’s now his go-to as well. Big props to Brian for coming up with something new that works so well.

I will preface that I’ve been a high gain player for 15+ years, playing mostly metal (the screaming type, but I have been diving into cleaner and more low gain sounds lately (blues and ambient post-rock music) and have been chasing some edge-of-breakup clean tones without having to crank my amp up to ear-blistering levels. I have owned a lot of overdrive pedals, but they rarely end up staying for long because most of them only work well in a single way or don’t sound natural to the amp. I am completely blown away with the sound of this pedal.

The two sides are slightly different much like the king of tone. Red size is a little fuller, blue side sounds a little better as a dirty boost. The pedal is so flexible tone wise it’s key to have the two sides set up completely differently. Really digging this one.

This pedal has a lot to offer. I have a lot of high-end pedals and a lot of high-end amps but I chose your pedal because it sounded like it has a lot of “meat on the bone,” so to speak. The fuzz setting of the pedal works very well—a very soft and warm yet crunchy sound.

Every amp I toss this pedal at sounds killer and different – which is AWESOME. It never sounds like a “pedal”, but more of an extension of the guitar, amp and ultimately me. I’ve borrowed a particularly amazing sounding Divided By 13 FTR37 from an old friend and the Triptych Twin is so good with it.

Yeah, interesting pedal, thanks. I had a cursory glance at the instructions, like any man. Nice at 18v. Not had chance for any high volume testing yet. Into an Effectrode Blackbird through headphones it’s really usable for me. Great cleanup with the volume knob too. It’s still on my board heh.

I am enjoying the Twins a lot, I am using the red side in position 1 for a nice mild crunch and adding in the blue side on position 3 (the gain below noon) for a lead tone…fantastic!
