The Protium offers three variations of overdrive, the pedal at max goes to medium gain.
(The Tone) A very even EQ from highs to lows with just a slight bump in the mids without any hint of a nasally tone. With clean, clear, almost bell-like notes – glassy, dynamic with depth and clarity. This allows you to play with complete authority at any volume level, also maintaining low noise to max levels of gain. All three positions will deliver a very expressive dynamic feel while maintaining your distinctive sound. No concern of not being heard in the mix with this one!
*What the Protium is “not” – it is not a Klon, TS or any type of circuit derivative.
The Protium is a boutique, hand built, analog circuit capable of delivering a surplus of tonal options.
(Pos-1) Boost to overdrive that goes past mild – half-way to medium gain, can also get a little compressed.
(Pos-2) Boost to overdrive that offers just a little dirtier overdrive tone as it’s turned up, max is medium OD.
(Pos-3) Boost to overdrive that goes just a “small” bit below medium gain at max, offering just a “little” more of a low mid bite.
All three positions have different dynamics & feel in the overdrive tone, positions 1 & 3 are symmetrical diodes, Pos. 1 has a slight volume drop.

I have to be honest with you, it is fantastic! It is the first pedal I grab when I play. I don’t have a “board”, but it’s the first one I grab when I set up. I am looking forward to seeing the YouTuber’s demos of it, for how much better it sounds than in my environment. The second pedal I have been grabbing is the Tryptych. They both sound so good. I’ve only run it into my Marshall, and am going to test it with the Boogie in a few minutes. Great job with these.

Hey man, just plugged the Protium in and it is absolutely beautiful. It gives me that sort of fusion/jam band sound I like.
I A-B’d it with the Brothers AM and it is similar but with more overtones which is hypnotizing. Stacks beautifully with a Klon clone I have from a Columbus builder. Your stuff is fantastic.

The Protium is the best drive I have ever played. For real. I just put it on my board and could not stop playing it. I love the Triptych but for my purposes it was a bit high gain. This one is absolutely perfect. It just immediately bumped the other drives off of my board.
(If you’re considering this pedal) My first impression with the Protium is, I love it. Like all his drives, it’s its own thing. It seems to operate differently from a lot of other drives, and I’m not exactly sure why. The thing I like best about it is that it can get a tone of varying degrees of overdrive without losing clarity, or getting fizzy. The tone itself is changing (“not” like the clean tone is somehow riding on top of the clipping), it doesn’t get lost or significantly altered, which is important for me because I take a LOT of time getting the tone of my guitar right with pickups, etc.
